How to Find Your Bank Account Number (Easy Step-by-Step)

Most experts on personal finance advise people to keep their bank account numbers confidential. As a general rule, keep your bank account number to yourself and only give it to the people you trust or who have a need to know it.

While you should keep your bank account number private most of the time, there are still many occasions where you need to give out that number to others.

For example, when you set up a direct debit for your credit card accounts or your utility accounts, you would need to have your bank account number ready.

Unfortunately, there is no one standard way to find bank account numbers. Different banks have different ways to do it and all the differences can be quite confusing.

In this article, we will show you how to find your account number for 7 of the major banks – Bank of America, Chase, Wells Fargo, Citibank, Capital One, US Bank, and HSBC.
