This is because Safeway does accept prepaid cards and debit cards. However, not all PayPal Cash cards are backed by traditional credit card companies and, as such, may not be accepted at Safeway.

The PayPal credit card is issued through MasterCard as a standard-style credit card. As such, Safeway does accept the PayPal credit card.

This card runs through just like a regular MasterCard; however, it is tied to your PayPal account.

If you have a PayPal credit card that is not tied to MasterCard or to another standard credit card provider, you may not be able to use it at Safeway.

Safeway only accepts credit cards issued by Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express. If your card is not from one of these, it cannot be used.

What Other Payment Does Safeway Accept?

Safeway only accepts standard methods of payment. This means that you are able to use credit cards from any of the most common providers, including Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express.

You are also able to use debit and prepaid cards from any vendor, or you may use Safeway gift cards to pay for your purchases. Currently, these are the only methods of payment accepted at Safeway.

Is There Any Contactless Way to Pay at Safeway?

At this time, there are no contactless ways that you can pay for your groceries at Safeway unless you use the online shopping service. While in the store, the only options to make a payment for your products are by using a credit card, cash, debit card, prepaid card, or a Safeway gift card.

If you have any other method of payment, including PayPal, Google Pay, Apple Pay, Amazon Pay, Alipay, cryptocurrency, or other contactless methods, you will not be able to use these at Safeway at this time.

What Other Stores Take PayPal?

There are actually a number of different stores that accept PayPal both online and in their store. You can use your PayPal account directly (rather than through PayPal Cash or PayPal credit) at stores such as Apple, Wayfair, Old Navy, Adidas, Urban Outfitters, Nike, Macy’s, Sephora, The Home Depot, Target, Walmart, Gap, Victoria’s Secret, Athleta, Samsung, American Airlines, Best Buy, and many more.

In fact, there are thousands of stores that now accept PayPal as a method of payment both in their stores and online. If you are looking to use this method for yourself, you will find plenty of places other than Safeway that you can do so.

Can You Use PayPal at Safeway in 2021?

As of 2021, PayPal is not currently accepted as a form of payment at Safeway. If you do want to use your PayPal account as a method of payment at Safeway, you will need to get either a PayPal credit card or a PayPal Cash card.

Either of these can be run through the machines at Safeway as a credit card or prepaid card, respectively. As such, they will work as a payment method.
