How to Use PayPal at Best Buy

Using PayPal at Best Buy is a relatively easy process. If you already have a PayPal account and are linked to your bank account, then all you have to do is follow the directions on the website once you’ve finished shopping.

To make this process even easier, we’ve created step-by-step guides on how to use PayPal on:

  • In-Store
  • Website
  • Mobile App

The steps below are meant to be easy for all customers, but if something goes wrong or you need extra support, Best Buy has an active support system complete with live chat and the option to talk to an agent on the phone. You can find the live chat and phone number by clicking on this link.

Best Buy In-Store

Because Best Buy does not have the option to use PayPal at its store locations, you will either need to use one of the alternate forms of payment listed below or apply for a PayPal Cash card. This card can be used at Best Buy locations because it works the same way as a Mastercard.

The PayPal Cash card is a debit card that is linked to your PayPal Plus account. While the card is not connected to its own bank, it allows easy access to any US bank of your choosing.

Because PayPal Cash is not a credit card, there are no required credit checks for new users. Additionally, the card is connected to your PayPal account and has no monthly fees.

The PayPal Cash card is a Mastercard, so it can be used at any Best Buy location that allows Mastercard.

It gives users the freedom to pull money from their accounts and withdraw money from ATMs. However, keep in mind that if the ATM is not a MoneyPass® ATM, a $2.50 fee will be applied to each withdrawal.

Even though PayPal doesn’t charge users for using PayPal Cash, some stores may charge a fee to complete a transaction using this card.

The best way to find out if a store charges a fee for using PayPal Cash is to ask the cashier at check out.

The first step to using a PayPal Cash card is to create a PayPal account. If you’re already a PayPal member, have an active phone number linked to the account, and have no problems with your account, the next few steps are simple. PayPal will ask for:

  • Your street address (P.O. Boxes are not accepted) will need to be confirmed by PayPal or another bank
  • Date of birth
  • Social Security Number

It typically takes about 7 to 10 days for your PayPal Cash card to arrive at your door once the application has been approved. If your application has been denied, however, you can reapply once 30 days have passed.

Because the PayPal Cash card is not a bank card, users have to load money onto it from their chosen banks. According to PayPal’s help center, the maximum amount of money you can upload onto your cash card is $1,500 and the monthly maximum is a combined $5,000.

Once there is money loaded onto your PayPal Cash card, you can use it at any location that accepts Mastercard. For more information about the PayPal Cash card and how to set it up, check out the PayPal website.
