Types of Amazon Returns

You can return standard Jewelry that you haven’t opened within 30-days of delivery for a full refund or exchange. This can be due to changing your mind, the wrong product, or any reason you have.

Luxury store items have an even stricter return policy. If Amazon is concerned about the authenticity of an item, they will extend the return process so the manufacturer can confirm the item is authentic.

Marketplace sellers will have different return policies, especially regarding expensive jewelry. If you return an item damaged or missing components Amazon will not accept it for a refund. You need to contact the seller before trying to return the item to see if the item will is eligible for a refund.

If you receive a gift, the purchaser must select it as a gift at checkout or the purchaser can also buy you a gift through your gift registry, which you can return for an Amazon credit to your account. The exception is if the gift is over $2,000 and requires the original purchaser to return or exchange the gift.

When you purchase jewelry from Amazon, there will be a note under the “Add To Cart” button, which indicates the return policy for that specific item. Amazon doesn’t have many exceptions when you return unopened items within 30-days of delivery.

Can I Return Custom Engraved Jewelry?

If you purchased Jewelry that the seller custom engraved before you received it, you can return it, but Amazon will tell you before purchase if that’s not possible. In most cases, Amazon will only have issues with you returning expensive jewelry.

If you customize jewelry after receiving it, then it’s no longer eligible for return. This can include engraving, resizing, or anything that modifies the product from the original design.

Are Amazon Jewelry Accessories As Strict On Returns?

You can return most jewelry accessories such as jewelry boxes, cleaners, and other products that Amazon doesn’t list under the jewelry category using the standard Amazon return policy.

You’ll still have 30 days to return your item, but Amazon will be more lenient on the return of original packaging and other materials. However, you will need to return all items that came with the package, such as brushes and stands.

Amazon Return Exceptions

What If The Return Window Has Passed: Amazon does not accept returns after the return window, though this window can be extended during the holiday season or if your jewelry was purchased off a gift registry.

Holiday extended returns are from October 1 to December 31 and allow you to return items until January 31.

Gift registries can allow you to return items up to 1 year after delivery, so they are a good option if you think you’ll need extended returns.

What If The Item Is Damaged: If you have damaged or modified the jewelry, then it likely won’t be returnable. If the item arrived damaged or defective, then you’ll need to submit a return or product ticket with Amazon or the seller.

Amazon will inspect jewelry that you return to determine how the damage was caused before they issue you with a refund. This is due to the cost of jewelry and discouraging returns of expensive items.

What If I Don’t Have A Receipt: Amazon does not require receipts, but you must complete the return process, including printing a return label and return authorization that you must include with your returned item so that Amazon can issue your refund or exchange.

What If I Don’t Have The Original Packaging: Original packaging and all accessories must be included with your jewelry return. If you’re missing anything, then your return will be denied.

Make sure you package your item back up in the original box, including accessories, documentation, and anything else that came with it. You need to ensure you package your item well so that there is no damage during shipping.

What If The Item Has Already Been Used: Used items are acceptable for return as long as there is no damage or the item is heavily soiled for some reason.

The exception to this would be where you’ve modified the item to fit you for use. It’s no longer returnable once you change anything about the jewelry, even if you find a defect.
